Airships 'N' Aliens

Welcome to Airships 'N' Aliens! This little arcade game was made for my game design & development college course. It was designed to be played on an arcade machine with 1 joystick and a few buttons, so the controls have to abide by these limitations, this led to me having to implement a movement system similar to old DOOM games (left/right turns your view, up/down moves you forward or back).

Pretty much the whole game revolves around you using one of the cannons on your ship to shoot at incoming UFOs before they reach you. If you take down a UFO it will explode, and if the explosion touches any other nearby UFOs, they will explode as well, leading to some awesome chain reaction combos!

If a UFO reaches your ship it will crash into it and explode, dealing 20 damage (from a total of 100), meaning you can effectively get hit 5 times before you lose.

The game doesn't end, and it gradually gets harder over time. Eventually you will lose and you will be shown your final score and how long you survived.

I hope you enjoy playing! It's not a very long game (unless you're insanely good and just never take any damage) but it should be a fun experience nonetheless!
